Arnold Böcklin (1827–1901) He was a very influential Swiss painter and one of the main exponents of European symbolism in art. You can easily see in his art an oniric element and much melancholy. He fuses realistic landscapes with mythological themes and fantasy. In many of his paintings he explores, in an allegorical manner, death and mortality.
Here is a good preview of his major works…

Wonderful introduction to Arnold Böcklin! You captured his essence beautifully—the dreamlike atmosphere, the quiet melancholy, and that haunting way he blends myth with landscape. His work really does feel like stepping into a myth half-remembered from a dream. Thanks for sharing this preview and spotlighting such a fascinating artist—looking forward to seeing more from your channel! 🎨

Once again you’ve introduced me to an artist w/ whom I was unfamiliar, Francisco. I found Bochlin’s Head of Medusa particularly striking. He seems to capture her horror both at her rape by Poseidon and at the fate Athena inflicted on her.
