Most artists in history, whatever their stylistic differences, attempted to convey something. Michelangelo sought to depict the handprint of God in creation. Monet sought to capture the ever changing nature of light. Van Gogh sought to translate his emotions into art.
Sadly, in recent years, many of the artists who have garnered acclaim and fame have had nothing to convey. We need not wipe them out of history. They will pass into oblivion all on their own.
