Ok, so I think a lot of my readers know that I am very partial to The Beatles. To me they did it all in pop music, wrapped it up with phenomenal lyrics and placed it in a balloon and let it float all over the world. And I am grateful that I coincided with their songs as with their songs I learned to speak the English language. Well, and with the help of my dear teacher from Scotland, Mrs. Donovan, who I will never forget. After all both of them taught me so well that when I arrived in the US (as a wee lad), nobody could understand me…
In any event. I am in the process of presenting twenty great British bands of all times. Except the present, as I am not into present day bands or music. I like good music so I stick to the golden years which lasted until the 90’s. So I thought about who to place in the coveted number 20 position. Of course, The Beatles! And in number 19 the Rolling Stones. But then I thought again as I was discussing this with my good friend Malc, also a great Beatles fan. And I concluded that the two bands will not be in the reckoning as they are in a totally different category. And here they are as the two best British bands (in my humble opinion) of all time.
So tell me what you think…

Yes! So now who do you think number 20 will be…

Now that’s a tricky one because it’s not who I think it should be but who I think you might think it should be. If could be somebody like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, but I’ll leave it to you to tell us.

You are very close, it is one of those two… good choices… have a great day and week Malc!

That’s good. I won’t say which one I think, but I have an idea. I’ll let you know if I was right when you tell us. You have a great week ahead too F.

It won’t be too hard to tell after chapter 10… All the best Malc!

Yes, Francisco, both in their own categories and they are both in top position from my point of view…well, maybe the Beatles would be a bit ahead, for me, that is!
HAHA! I’d be confused by a Spaniard speaking English with a Scottish accent, or perhaps it was a Scotch-Irish accent since the name Donovan has its origins in Ireland! Good story, friend! 😉

Hehehe… yes I must have sounded quite funny! But I could not understand the Americans either! After my first day in school I was so traumatised that I told my mother that she had made a mistake that in this country (US) they did not speak English! Hehehe… Mrs. Donovan could have been Irish or Scotch-Irish, that I don’t remember… And yes! I do place The Beatles a bit above the Rolling Stones, and both ahead of everyone! Thanks so much Ashley! All the best.

The Beatles are in a league of their own, no band has ever captured pop music like they did. Their impact goes beyond music; it’s a cultural revolution.
Honestly, I’ve never been a Stones fan, so I’m totally with you on putting them in a different category. The Beatles’ legacy is untouchable.
Can’t wait to see which other bands you feature on your list.

Yes, you are right, the Beatles are in a league of their own. For me they have always been special. The Stones also, but at a different level. The only thing is that the Stones are still around. All the other bands are great and I love their music, but it would not have been fair to put the Beatles and the Stones in the group. All the best Willie!
