Sonny Rollins tiene 93 años y en mi humilde opinion es un crack, un autentico genio de la música clásica norteamericana, el Jazz… Comenzó a tocar profesionalmente al graduarse del instituto en 1948 y en 1949 hizo su primera grabación… Muy temprano en su vida y su carrera musical, ya tocaba con el pianista Bud Powell, el trompetista Fats Navarro y el legendario baterista/percusionista Roy Haynes… Estuvo preso por cometer un robo a mano armada y luego por posesión de heroína…  De 1951 a 1953 grabó con Miles Davis, con el Modern Jazz Quartet, Charlie Parker, y Thelonious Monk. En 1954 grabó sus piezas más famosas como «Oleo», «Airegin», y «Doxy» acompañado por un quinteto liderado por Miles Davis en el cual tocaba el piano Horace Silver. Este gran jazzista nació en Nueva York el 7 de septiembre de 1930. Y bueno, como no me gusta hablar mucho de los que hacen arte para los oídos, aquí os dejo una grabación fenomenal que espero que la disfrutéis…

In 1949 he made his first recording… Very early on in his life and musical career, he was playing with the likes of pianist Bud Powell, trumpeter Fats Navarro, and the legendary drummer/percussionist Roy Haynes… He was imprisoned for committing an armed robbery and later for possession of heroin… From 1951 to 1953, he recorded with Miles Davis, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Charlie Parker, and Thelonious Monk. In 1954, he recorded his most famous pieces like «Oleo», «Airegin», and «Doxy» accompanied by a quintet led by Miles Davis, with Horace Silver on piano. This great jazz musician was born in New York on September 7, 1930.
