A veces hay que dejar que la imaginación se haga cargo de la producción y uno se sienta ahí, tranquilo, y observa. Luego puede reírse a carcajadas uno o joderse…

Sometimes one has to let one’s imagination take over production and one can just sit back, relax and watch. Afterwards one can laugh out loud or not…

Hacer un retrato siempre es hacer un estudio de la persona que se va a retratar. Yo a veces…como aquí lo veis…hago retratos de gente imaginaria, pero resultan ser muy reales…

Making a portrait implies doing a thorough study of the person you are going to do the portrait of. I, at times…as you see here…make portraits of imaginary people, although they always turn out to be quite real…

I never liked his work much until you gave me a better understanding of him F – but I still don’t like his portrait of the Queen.

I’m glad to hear that Malc, thank you 🙏🏻 Reference the Queen’s portrait, he asked her but she had to come to his studio for three months many times in order for him to finish that small painting. What do you think of that?

It’s not everyone who could snap their fingers at the Queen and get her running to them 🙂

She must have truly held him in high esteem!

It would seem so. The Queen could often surprise people, and I suppose if she liked it, that was good enough fo rFreud

He uses color to give his subjects the strong feeling of skin texture–no alabaster or peaches and cream complexions in his paintings.

I agree with Malc. Although his portrait of the Queen, is certainly in his style–for her I don’t care for it.

It’s one of his best, but… Art is subjective and only what we like is what we like… cheers.
