All I can say is that this year for me summer started way too early. By the first of April I was already feeling the heat, and of course, who wouldn’t, I had just arrived in South Florida…
It’s been a long three months so far but my time here is coming…finally…to an end. It is, naturally, scorching hot and super humid. When you walk the streets you feel that sticky, never-ending heat combined with humidity, but this is Miami and it is June, it would be quite odd indeed if it were brisk and cool…
I have to say that I have accomplished much this summer, or early summer. I have written much, composed new music, took many photographs and painted. I was commissioned very soon after I arrived by a collector, who already owned her «Bodo’s» but wanted a couple more, so I got to paint in Miami once again. I also was honoured by Gabriela Milton, editor of the anthology «Wounds I Healed», when she accepted one of my poems and included it in this wonderful book, which I recommend to all.
So I have to say that although I was no longer used to this all-consuming heat and the necessity of air conditioning, it was a good summer, productive and eventful. But I am very glad to be leaving.
I know that for many of you summer has just started or is about to start and I wish you a blessed and happy one!

Cheers…
Sounds productive. Summers in Miami are not on my to do list
Do you return to Spain or go to Turkey?

I understand why they would not be on many people’s to do list, and believe me, I found Miami to be far worse now than it was, more bizarre and much, much more expensive…
I will be travelling to Greece first…

Early summer because summer officially starts tomorrow but here it started back in April! Productivity to stay indoors in the A/C and away from the heat and humidity! All the best!

You’ve been far more productive than I the last three months! Too bad the heat and humidity set in early in Miami. Just think: summer starts tomorrow. We’ve already had more 98-degree days than we have some summers and heat indices topping 100. Makes one wonder what July and August will be like.

That is so true Janet! I felt the heat back in April, of course temperatures were not that high, that’s why I considered that I had reached summer way too soon this year…
And as far as being productive, well, writing, painting and composing was far easier than hanging out outside in those high temperatures! Thank you Janet and all the best.

We’ve enjoyed following your exploits in Florida Francesc, but no doubt there will be more in Valencia when you get back

It’s already summer solstice, yet there are no signs of summer in Ireland. Maybe I should visit Florida in early spring to soak up some sunshine – as far as I’ve heard from my family and friends who already travelled oversees this year – it doesn’t matter where you choose to travel to – it’s gotten very expensive 🙂 Thanks for sharing and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

Yes Aiva, you’re right everything is very expensive for travelling this year. In Spain all hotels are up by 40% from before! It’s crazy here in the US, flights are being cancelled because lack of pilots! And petrol prices are at historical highs! And summer here began in April and will last thru November! But if you want to enjoy the warm weather come to Florida but not to Miami. Any place north of Miami-Dade County is half as expensive. Miami is a rip-off! Cheers my friend and all the best!
