Although I do not necessarily like to divide art into «normal» and «gay» art, well the division does exist and we should know it well as it is now part of Art History.

Qué puntazo lo de San Sebastián. Lo cierto es que hay muchas pinturas que lo representan con rasgos delicados y como si no fuera con él el martirio.

Gracias y tienes razón, muchos de estos pintores, especialmente el Greco, lo pintaban para satisfacer el hecho que les gustaban los hombres, pero como estaba prohibido, tenían que camuflarlo así y eligieron a San Sebastián, que en vida fue capitán del ejército romano…

Good observation Pat…actually the aesthetic of covering up martyrs and as well Jesus on the cross is a Renaissance puritanical practice, there are earlier depictions, and even bold ones from the Early Renaissance depicting a nude Jesus on the cross…

Haven’t seen those yet. Interesting–never thought of the Renaissance as a prudish era, but I haven’t really studied the art. I do love Renaissance music.
