Art History: The Austrian Expressionists

Continuing with Art History, I thought it would be a good idea to delve further into Expressionism and what better way than to bring you some of my favourites in the genre…

Thanks for another educational post Francesc. Although I enjoy looking at your idea of Expressionism, I’m not sure that I’m quite so enthusiastic about these Austrian Expressionists – but like you say, it’s subjective.

    1. It is subjective Malc, for sure. I understand it is not everyone’s cup of tea but, it is part of art history and a very important part I would say because it has influenced and drawn to it many contemporary artists. Have a great weekend mate, hope the weather’s good and the wine is flowing into your glass. Here in South Florida it is miserable today, rain at 100% and tropical storm warnings! Good grief do I miss Europe! 😊

Goodness me! It’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over here at the moment and hopefully the weather will hold up for all the outdoor events that are taking place. Enjoy your wine 🙂

      2. Yes, I’ve been watching on Spanish television. Happy Jubilee Malc! Will enjoy the wine (Australian wine this time as Spanish wines are way to expensive in America) at midnight your time. Cheers.

  3. Great you picked up this topic! Being an Austrian these are the works that first shaped my understanding of arts.

    1. Thank you Zettl, it has always been one of my favourite of the vanguard movements and Egon Schiele has always been one of my references and one of my favourite artists. You had a good school to shape your art indeed. All the best and greetings from Spain.
