I’ve been lucky enough to see the ‘Birth of Venus’ in the flesh so to speak. I knew it was an important painting, but the expert who was explaining what it was about and the skill of the artist brought it all to life. I’ve never forgotten it.

I’ve yet to visit the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, but it is on my list as soon as I return to Europe. To stand before that painting has to be a supernatural experience, I would think.

I’m grateful for the fact that I saw it when tourism was still civilized. I hope your experience will be the same.
