In my opinion one of the best figurative artists of the XX C. And I would say that one that all art students should study carefully even if they do not like or aspire to paint in the same style.

I’m confused now F. I liked your assessment about Lucian Freud but am less enamoured with the work of Francis Bacon. It’s just my opinion of course, and as you know I bow to your better artistic knowledge.

But Malc, you have to accept that Francis Bacon was a very talented artist, well trained and much involved in the search for greater expression. Now, what he puts on a canvas, well, that is something for everyone to judge in accordance to their taste, I quite agree. All the best to you Malc. I like bacon on my sandwich, but I am not sure I want him on my walls. Evocative images, but they all seemed muddled and confused. Not my favorite artist, however he was a great writer. Loved the music, Francisco!

That is fine, but it is good to know even those you are not too fond of. For me, Bacon and Lucian Freud are two of the best, but I know that the majority has not really liked them. All the best Pat, and since today is the middle of the week, I am getting ready for wine time! Cheers!
