My Least Favourite Artists…

(Thinking about my least favourite artists close to the almond trees on the River…Jardines del Turia…in Valencia)

It is rather easy for me to choose my least favourite artists, however it is almost impossible to make a «top 10» or something similar because they all share the number one spot, for sure.

Some of these artists I do recognise their craftsmanship and discipline, as well as their crafty ways of getting into the limelight, so do not get me wrong, I do not mean to be disrespectful. And this has nothing to do with these artists as persons, I didn’t know any of them so as far as I know they are nice people, respectful and mindful of their manners. My judgement only concerns their artwork. Like I said, some of them were professionals and some complete amateurs. However, they are recognised internationally and by the art world and their work now sells for quite a bundle.

Que disfrutéis del vídeo.

Hope you enjoy the video.

If this is what passes for art, then I would like to revise an earlier statement. I just may be a painter after all.

    1. I think you’re right Brad. You possess an artistic personality expressed through your poetry so why not direct it to painting…

so interesting to see some of your favs and now your worst, it’s such a very personal thing, each of us have these in our heads

    1. Oh yes, certainly. I’m giving my worst 10 knowing they could be in someone else’s favourites but, we all have the right to choose and to decide what we like or not. This is not a judgement on the artist themselves, just on their work. Thank you Beth and a happy Sunday to you!

I’m not surprised you chose Joan Miro (although I think he often brightens up a Spanish street scene) and although I’m with you on Andy Warhol, he was more about the moment in time and not his art. I’m a bit flabbergasted that you’ve included Renoir, but you obviously know more than me about his work. I definitely agree with you about Jeff Koons though – and Damien Hirst (Have you seen Verity?) Do you know the biggest surprise of all though F? – you didn’t include Banksy 😊

    1. Actually I think Banksy’s work is better, although I disagree with the way he gained notoriety and the things he does with it, it is much better crafted and shows much more talent than some of these that I selected as not a top 10, but just ten of them. Renoir, I cannot say he wasn’t a professional artist knowledgeable of his craft and also that he developed talent, but I chose him because I simply do not like the way he painted people and his subject matter bored me…
Malc all the best my friend, Happy Sunday and cheers.

I don’t know enough to talk to many of these pieces, they are not something I would spend money on or find myself glued to daily. That is what I look for in art, something that I can and enjoy looking at every day, something that brings me happiness when I look at it. Easily recognizable when you see it to, it just touches a piece of your heart. I was not surprised to see Andy Warhol (Brillo pads really) I remember his «Can of Campbell Soup,» I read once that that at least brought him entrance into the famous Studio 54 and into the Penthouse. Jeff Koons I had never heard about and «The Rabbit» was like a balloon at a child’s party and Andy Mouse. I don’t know how this happens with truly talented artist like yourself Francisco, and yet I think it still happens. My theory is that if a couple of famous movie stars, etc., buy your work for a fortune because they are friends, an artist is born. Many are not famous for long because they really don’t have that special gift. I loved your music for this post too. Big Hugs you two, Love Joni

    1. Thank you so much Joni! Yes, and “Rabbit” for a while, a few years ago, was the highest paid artwork (sculpture). Can you imagine?

No actually I can not. I especially loved the sculptures you liked by the ocean. The strong shapes and they way they seemed almost a natural part of that powerful landscape. Just beautiful. I find that sad that people just go by what a few people say to decide what is art. That is an affront to the art world and those truly gifted artist. Thank you Francisco very educational – that bit of info is shocking. Blessings my friends. ❤️

No one can ever accuse you of being unwilling to share an opinion. Very ecumenical list. Some of the people surprise me and some of them don’t. Like the video.
