Art History: MODERNISM!

(«Second Nature», 2020, Jenny Saville)

Modernism is anything modern, right? Maybe…

But this art vanguard of the XX C. carries everything and anything you can imagine. Anyone that is called contemporary or who is an artist that considers himself contemporary, or anything never done before (which is practically impossible as all has been done) and is laid out as «art» is part of this vast, never-ending movement. Why is it never-ending? Because we are always moving toward the modern. For something to be contemporary it has to exist in the here and now but in a few years it will be ancient…

One of the movements, or styles or genres that developed with the idea of modernism is «conceptual art». I don’t really have much to say about it except that the «Queen» is Yoko Ono and the «Grandmother» is Marina Abramović.

Let me know what you think of «modernism» and I really want to know what you think, is Yayoi Kusama really Yoko Ono? Hmm…

(I guess YouTube did not like my picture on the front)

Cheers…

You make an interesting point about Yoko Ono and why she became ‘famous’. She may be rhe other woman (the grandmother) also–don’t know. Interesting video and questions.

    1. Absolutely! Who is Yoko anyways? Yet, have you heard her sing?

This genre covers a wide spectrum. Like everyting, there is good and there is bad, and that reflects how I see Modernism. I saw some of Yoko’s ‘art’ in London – and the least said about it the better, but not all ‘artists’ are like Yoko Ono. Thanks for another education in art Francesc 🙂

    1. Definitely not all are like her, some have talent…
I am glad you liked it Malc, thank you! I probably won’t be around much until next Friday/Saturday so I’ve left scheduled posts for every day. Next time I check in I’ll be in America! All the best my friend!

Thoroughly enjoyed the music. Does that tell you anything?

    1. Ah, the music, I put much more into it. Cannot say many good things about such “artists” as Yoko and Yayoi…
Thank you so much my friend!

I wonder why Yoko switched from creating music to painting when she is completely inept at both.

    1. LOL! Could not agree more. Maybe she should stick to singing? Have you seen the clip of her singing at the MoMA in New York? Incredible! And there is one with Iggy Pop! I could not believe that Iggy, being a musician that I respect, could be «singing» and dancing with Yoko onstage…

The only thing good that has ever come out of Yoko is their son, Sean!
