(Portrait of Tristan Tzara by Marcel Janco, 1919)

Dada is one of my favourites, especially for theatre…

I love this series of art history Francesc as you know, but I’m not quite so sure that I love Dada that much. All part of life’s rich tapestry though 🙂

    1. Thank you Malc! It is part of life’s rich tapestry, for sure. I fell in love with Dada back when I was in the Theatre Department at uni, but never thought much of it for painting, but…

Although the art is less appealing to me visually, I do love that the movement was born out of rejection of the conventional and fully embracing non-conformity. Artists all over the world created images that spoke directly to the evils of World War I and rampant Imperialism. Their art is akin to the peace sign of the 60’s. Great post, Francisco!

    1. You are on spot my friend, a very good analogy. Yes, the Dadaists were a non-conformist group and their influence is still among us, like in the US shows like «Laugh-In» and later «Saturday Night Live»…

Not one of my favorite styles though I admit these are for the most part not three year-olds coloring outside the lines, and suspect artists’ efforts not for the art but for notoriety. And Imma tell you, the music you put together fits perfectly!

    1. Thank you Espie. Yes, they did it all to elicit a response or to scandalise the public. Glad you liked the music, I was trying for a little Dada touch.

Nailed it, sort of. So much more. Cubano? Jazzy. Good background.

      2. Thanks my friend! I reckon a little bit of everything I could think of…and play…at the moment, it was all, as usual, improvised.

I share your love for Dada. Some of the pictures of the creators’ faces look like they were constructed to be deconstructed by their fellow enthusiasts.
