Alas me quieren brotar,

Ahora ¡a escribir!

I am not deep enough to appreciate the haiku form. This well done.

    1. I have invented a new form, the European Haiku, the “Euroku”. You will see more of it soon. No need for deep thoughts or deep understanding…

        Fun word choice.

      2. Well, it has to be fun as it cannot reflect the more profound and complex thinking of the oriental. As Europeans we are soft thinkers, given more to the ego than to the pursuit of deep, introspective analysis…
        What do you think?

Most of us are shallower than we’d care to admit.

    1. For sure! But we’ve learned, over the centuries, to make profound our shallowness.

I’ve always enjoyed reading haiku but never spent enough time and effort to write any myself. After reading your post, I did an online search for «European Haiku» because I wasn’t familiar with the term. I happened upon the website, https://europeankukai.blogspot.com/, and there was a verse by Bo Jaroszek of Poland which eloquently summed up my sad experience with my dog 15 days ago. It reads as follows:

    tears in mine
    trust in my dog’s eyes
    the last injection

    1. I have always been intrigued by Haikus too. My version/style is the Euro-Ku, which seeks to truly bring the form to the European idiosyncrasy in thought and words. The three verses should flow coherently and clearly with the message/meaning and it should sound as simple as a pop song. Another differences that it should be accompanied by an original illustration that serves to amplify the message. I have published some a few days ago. And thank you so much Janet. I will definitely check out the link. Take good care and all the best.
