Has to be one of my favourite songs, «Delia’s Gone», from one of my favourite musical artists, Johnny Cash: singer, performer, composer, genius…

This song appeared in The Legend of Johnny Cash a compilation record released in the US in 2005. In the UK and Europe it was called Ring of Fire.

And this was the last song Johnny Cash ever wrote and recorded:
He is a true modern minstrel! Great post, Francisco!

So true Pat!

The combination of Cash’s smooth bass-baritone voice, chugging guitar rhythms, and fusion of musical genres made him one of my all-time favourite artists 🙂

I have never heard that last song and it is a beauty. Thank you for sharing these Francis. I loved Johnny Cash. The 309 is a great song. I did not realize he died so soon after his wife of 35 years whom he loved so much. Johnny Cash had such a wonderful voice and wrote great songs. I don’t know if you have ever listened to Hank Williams but I was always a fan of his. I got to see Leon Russel in concert to perform some of the music from the LP Hank’s Back. He did a great job. Really enjoyed this, thanks again and blessings my friends. Hugs and love from us. xoxo

Yes I agree totally with you Joni, always been a big fan of Johnny Cash, loved his songs and his style and his faith, it was a ray of light in a very dark world. Thank you 😊 very much. Love and blessings to you both and wishes for a lovely Saturday. Big hugs 🤗

Greatly admire the talent but not a fan. Gimme Willie or Waylon any day.

They all played together…

Yes, but somethign about the «Bad boy» image presented by Willie, Waylon, Merle and a few others make Johnny’s style seem superficial.

I don’t really know much about the others, especially Merle Haggard, whose songs I do like and of course Willy Nelson, one of the best of the US, together with the other great Charlie Daniels. But among them all, for me it is the Man in Black…

Johnny Cash was a one-of-a-kind. I hadn’t thought about «Delia’s Gone» in years. I marvel at how a songwriter can capture an entire story with such vivid imagery in so few words. I think the writers of ballads are under-appreciated.

I agree. The «song» is one of the most powerful and beautiful forms of poetic expressions and even listening the fully polished work of professional songwriters specialised in commercial music and working only to create hits, I marvel and admire their work. You are so right Janet! Cheers and a great weekend to you!
