Quizás La noche estrellada sea el cuadro mas famoso de van Gogh y del movimiento post-impresionista…
Perhaps «The Starry Night» is van Gogh’s most famous painting as well as the best known of the post-Impressionist movement…
Pero continuamos nuestro camino por el sendero de la historia del arte y ya vamos entrando en el S. XX, o sea, la era moderna de la pintura.
So we continue our road through Art History and now we have begun to penetrate the XX C. and the era of modern art…
Gracias…
Cheers…
Yet another fine post Francesc. Strangely enough I was watching a TV programme about Georges Seurat only two nights ago. I was amazed at how painting with dots created such images. Keep up the good work my friend – and thank you.

Yes, it is a painstaking process for sure, with scientific result where the eye is capable of mixing the colours that were placed separately, but precisely on the canvas. Thank you so much Malc!

I can’t say if it is the techniques or the talent, but this era in art in certainly my favorite, Great post, Francisco!

Lots of things were going on at that time, especially developing the science of colour perception, that was how they work the pointillism of their works. A great era in Art History. Thank you so much my friend.

I’m not sure whether you’re familiar with the Lithographic printing process Francesc , but images traditionally produced on film were passed through filters and screens to create dots in four colour separations. In other words, if you looked through a magnifying glass closely enough you could see that the images on the printed page were made up of dots at different angles. In today’s digital world the images are produced differently of course. It’s a strange phenomenon how the brain can make the eyes see things differently isn’t it? Colour space, whether it is with light or pigments is a science that’s worth getting to understand, especially if you need to know the difference.

It is amazing, I quite agree, the way our brain interprets what enters that very complex organ, the eye, is incredible, surrealist I would say…

How very Munch-ian. Or was Edvard very Van Gogh-ian?

He could have been, that I really don’t know. Truly, I am not a big fan of Munch or the Dutchman…
