Art: Abstract Art “BLUESTER”

(Photo property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios València, C.2022, All Rights Reserved)

Abstract art? Really? Well…

I painted the above and then photographed it and “dealt” with it digitally to convert it into an NFT (Non-Fungible-Token). I call it the “Bluester”, because there is a blue rooster in the painting…

So, is it abstract? Being that most of the painting is created with the pure power of colour, I would say yes it is.

Abstract art is not just random colours, lines, drippings or scribbling. Abstract art contains the same problems as figurative. The most difficult aspect of abstract art is that the reference is internal, within the mind’s eye of the artist.

Abstract art has to follow the same rules as figurative. The artist must search, investigate and plan the colour, the composition and even the “style”, as there are differences…

Let me know what you think, especially if you are an abstract artist.

Cheers…

I’m not an artist, abstract or otherwise, but it’s interesting to know how an abstract artist’s mind works. I must be getting the idea because I looked at the title and immediately saw a blue rooster before I read your comments.

    1. Thanks Malc! Yes, some may think abstract art is created by simply splashing some paint around and putting in a few lines or something similar, but true abstract art is as complicated…or even moreso…than figurative as the reference for abstract art is internal. I wanted the rooster, such a great symbol, but tried to work it in an abstract manner. I am glad you saw it. All the best my friend!

Agree with Malc..Bluester is a perfect title. Will you try to make money from your NFT and is this your first NFT? NFT is a concept I have not yet gotten my head around

  4. It’s a lovely abstract, Francisco! For me, as an abstract artist, it’s all about balance, color, texture, and composition, which I think you achieved here!

      Francis

The title is indeed apt. And it is strikingly vibrant. I am not a man of the day, it appears, as I ask myself why an artist, a real artist, would resort to digital manipulation?

    1. Digital manipulation of the photograph of the artwork. It is useful for creating a replica that is not in its entirety a reproduction, so it becomes a separate work, one that can be turned into an NFT to be sold at auction and at the same time the original painting continues to hold its own as an independent work of art. I am glad you liked the title.

  7. «The most difficult aspect of abstract art is that the reference is internal, within the mind’s eye of the artist.» – so agree with this! My own style mixes planning ( sorta 😊 ) and discovery, and it’s the latter that’s so much internal reference in terms of hunches, intuition, sudden-in-progress ideas, all that, lol! And I do also agree, figurative and abstract «can» follow the same rules — it’s all such an amazing process!

Also, Francis, do you some posts about those NFTs? I’ve been reluctant to get into all that, but am beginning to see the potential value of them – thanks so much!

    2. Thank you 😊 Felipe. Reference the NFTs I am researching…slowly…because I am interested too. I will do a post as soon as I have enough information and examples. And any information you might run across, let me know. I’ve a couple of websites I’ll give you tomorrow as they’re in my portable and it’s way past midnight. All the best.

      1. Yes, please post, but only when u can. A super respected photographer, Richard Bernabe I “believe” feels that or something similar is valid & necessary for creative visual works, but I hadn’t had the time to do research. With my art production going up, I feel I at least need to be informed; not just as a way to sell, but also protect the work. We can help each other gather information! Thanks, Francis – I’ll check in tomorrow 😊
