Art History: The High Renaissance

We continue…

From the QUATTROCENTO we now enter the CINQUECENTO, or the High Renaissance. Now, remember that we are concentrating totally in Italy. There were other things going on in Europe which we will look at shortly.

Enjoy…

(what can you tell me about the art of the High Renaissance?)

Cheers…

I love this period. It holds works that are still considered some of the finest examples of art. It reflects a coming-of-age for Europe as a whole, in just about every facet of life. Great post, my friend!

    1. Yes, I too am a big fan of this period for the same reasons and I quite agree with you that it was a coming of age in many ways for European art and society. Thank you so much Brad. Since I am working on certain things that have kept me and will, I imagine, keep me away from blogging, I want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a lovely, healthy and blessed Holiday Season! I will be back and active in January, in the meantime I will try to keep up and perhaps post as well. All the best and Happy Christmas from Valencia, Spain!

Wonderful video, Francisco. You are sort of a Renaissance man yourself with your writing, artistry, music, and teaching. Merry Christmas and a fulfilling New Year.

Tempted to say something like, «my favorite period» but my education only begins; I’ve not enough exposure to give strength to the claim. Interesting to the point that I clearly «forgot» to listen to the accompaniment. Thank you, Francisco.

Another superb addition to this remarkable series of Art History Francesc. What I really like is your ability to cover so much in such a concise way. Well done my friend!

    1. Thank you very much Malc! I’ll take a brief break but I’m hoping to first post a new video that again breaks from the timeline to contrast with another aspect of art history. All the best!
