Well, I was going to write about it but really, the video says it all, take a look and a listen and let me know what you think of «contemporary expressionism» and of art (modern or classical) in general. Art is a contrived form of expression and never intuitive.

I believe most art, at least good art, cannot easily be put into the simpified genres and categories we are taught. The best seem to incorporate stylizations from many genres and incorporate varied techniques. I spend my time trying to understand what the painter was trying to say rather than worrying about what «style» they used. Great post, dear friend!

Yes, I quite agree Brad, the art that most appeals, that reaches and «converses» with you is simply «good» art, regardless of what «style» it is done in. To transmit a message you do not need a specific language, what you need is a message. Thank you so much my friend.

I think that our entire being goes into our art, and what others see is often interpreted through the lens of their own life experiences

Violinist: Did not care for the blue and red rendition, lured as I was by the image that showed in my WP reader. Which says I prefer the multi-color (original?). Always an adventure to «watch» and «listen» to FBC. Thank you.

“Contemporary Expressionism” sounds a good description of your style Francesc. As regards creating a style, I think it probably happens without thinking about it for many people – and not just painters. No doubt, there are some who try to create a unique style of their own, but a true artist develops what they feel inside of them, which then, more often than not, develops into a style without them really knowing it. That said, I think you still need to understand what you’re aiming for.

True Malc, and very well said. But in my case, what I am aiming for is communication, or maybe even communion, spiritually, with others out there. For me expressing emotions, feelings, and such messages through the power of symbols, colours, forms et cetera, is the most important aspect of art. A style is only useful for critics and academics because it makes it easier for them to categorise art and create chapters in Art History classes, but I think that to create art one does not need to be either original or unique, one just needs to have a need to communicate. My favorite art style is realism, but I also enjoy your expressionism. I hate that all forms of art get pigeon-holed. It happens to painting, writing, and music. It can be confining for the artist.
