This was one of my early paintings. It is in painted in the same way, Jazz Art, surreal, expressionistic, with an abstract component, not only for the background but for the way that many of the main figures of the composition were painted. It is now available as a fine art print, or a print of your style and choosing, here. And while you are there, take a look at the rest of the virtual gallery. They are all available.
This video contains much of my early work, as well as the song «Darkness Sublime», one of my original compositions from way back to 2004, I do believe…

Surreal-Expressionism is my way of defining some of the work that I do on canvas. It is not, necessarily a style. It is a philosophical and psychological preposition that I launch out to the world through my work. Now I have chosen to allow this company, a very good and reputable company, to distribute my images as prints in several formats. They do it all, including shipping, so I think it makes sense. Look for this one here, as well as others in my virtual gallery.
And here is something I hope you will like with many other images of my work throughout these last twenty five years.

What would you say? Figurative or abstract? After all, if you talk about styles and you take it to the extreme definition, you have to conclude that there are only…basically…two styles: Figurative Art or Abstract Art.
I have talked…written…about this several times before and tried to explain the main and only difference. If a painting, drawing, or sculpture focuses on shapes, colours, geometric patterns and has nothing else that can be thought of as related to the natural world, it is Abstract Art. If it contains forms, figures or items of the composition that relate to life as we see it and know it, it is Figurative Art. But there are hybrids, of course, because many artists have mixed their figurative art with abstract backgrounds or abstract parts within the figurative composition they have created. I am one…

So, after reading these paragraphs and watching these videos…which I hope you did…tell me, «Mandolina» is it figurative, abstract or a hybrid?
«Goodbye Yellow Brick Road» was released in 1973 and I remember it well from those days when I was about to graduate from High School in Miami. For decades I loved that song. I sang it all the time but I didn’t know all the words, so I just made up words according to the sound. Like for instance, I didn’t know he said: «…where the dogs of society howl…» or that it was «Back to the howling old owl in the woods, hunting the horny back toad.» And I was surprised with this line too: «It’ll take you a couple of vodka and tonics To set you on your feet again.» Finally I also learned that it concluded by saying this: «Sniffing for tidbits like you, on the ground, ah, ah.»
Now I know the whole song. Imagine that, since 1973 I had been singing it wrong! But it is never too late to learn, and I did.
This is a great song on many levels. First it is one of the ones that Elton John sings the best. His vocals really shine on this one as well as the harmonies. The music is more complex than previous ones and the arrangements are fantastic. Truly a song to my style and taste. And the message is awesome. Tell them all to go to hell, you don’t own me, I’m going back to the farm! Brilliant!
Hope you like it. The words, of course were written by Bernie Taupin and the music by Elton John. It is listed as song 390 of the best 500 songs by Rolling Stone magazine. Wow! I would have placed it a tad higher, but…

This is the latest in my series of portraits. I painted it following the rules of symbolism, surrealism and expressionism. This allowed me to develop my style which I call surreal-expressionism.
The painting measures 40 x 60 cm and it is painted with acrylics on canvas.

As an artist I have been running this blog…happily…for several years. Actually I started it in 2014 but never really posted anything until 2019. After that I ran Omnia Caelum Blogs, successfully, until 2021, when I…mistakenly…deleted that blog and opened «VALENCIARTIST». It has been a very interesting journey into a field that I was unfamiliar with until that summer (2019). But I love it…
I have made great friends from many places of the world. I had the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts with many people, of all ages, from all professions or vocations and that makes me really proud. I have had the opportunity to showcase my artwork…shameless, I know…to everyone who would take a look and as well share my videos.
I have had a great time too publishing my poetry, which I take very seriously. And I have posted in my languages Spanish, Valencian, and as well English, and I have greatly enjoyed translating the many languages that the people I follow speak and write. Lovely, lovely times indeed I have had attending to this blog, and I thank you all!
I just want to add that I will continue to post daily…sometimes twice or thrice…articles on art, artists, music, current events, ideas and my poetry. Especially my creation in poetry, the «Euro-Ku», which led the way for the creation of the «Ameri-Ku», skilfully and ideally represented by the work of my good friend Joni, whose blog, «The Inner Child» I urge you to read, as she is a wonderful poet and photographer.
In closing, I would like to invite you to my Instagram: @Francisco_Bravo_Cabrera where I post every single one of my paintings as soon as they are ready, and sometimes as «works in progress» or check out my representative in Europe and the US: @Guloshka who does some interesting things with my images.
And I also invite you to my virtual galleries that offer prints…of various types…of some of my works that I have authorised. They take care of everything, from presentation, elaboration and shipping. Check it out here, Fine Art America and Pixels.
And most especially thank you all so much for your condolences and lovely words which I will always remember. Wishing all love and blessings…
