#art, Queridos amigos – Dear Friends

(Derechos Reservados/All Rights Reserved)

Francisco

#art, Abstraction = Reaction

(Francisco/Bodo, actor portrayal)

Abstract art is one of the vanguards of the 20th Century that is still alive and thriving today…

Tell me what you think of abstract art…

#art, Great Women Artists: Fernande Olivier

(Fernande and Pablo in Paris/Photo La Razón)

Not only Picasso’s first love in Paris, but a model and an artist in her own right, this beautiful and intelligent woman is someone that the art world needs to recognise. So even if «they» won’t remember her, you will after watching this brief video of her work…

#art, Great Artists: Baldomero Romero Ressendi

(Foto/Photo ABC de Sevilla)

Definitely one great artist that you (probably) never heard of. Why? Because art schools are twisted and skewed and only teach about artists making the scene as non-figurative «conceptual» artists. Who needs art schools anyway? There are many professional academies in practically all cities in Europe where you can get a much more rounded and complete art education. And believe me, if you want to be an artist you need a good professional education. Art is not something you can improvise and it is not intuitive. Art is objective and quite complex…

Hope you enjoy this brief look at Baldomero Romero Ressendi, a great painter from Sevilla, Andalucía, Spain.

#art, The Importance of Pablo Picasso…

(«Picasso in Paris» by Francisco Bravo Cabrera/All Rights Reserved)

Pablo Picasso is considered the art genius of the 20th Century and I fully agree. Of course he might not be your favourite artist or even one that you consider to be very good or even good. But what he did for art, painting in particular and to a lesser extent sculpture, was something that catapulted the art world and created new avenues for artists to travel with their curiosity, anxiety and creativity towards new and uncharted territories. He is the inventor of cubism (along with others) and also of collage. He revolutionised painting to the extent that even trained scholars of art consider him an abstract painter, although he never painted an abstract work in his entire long and very fruitful career. That tells you a lot about «experts.»

For years I only heard good things about the master from Málaga. Of course I tried to read every book about his life and his work, especially the one that Françoise Gilot wrote about her life with Picasso, and I knew about his reputation as a womaniser and also that he might have mistreated some of these women, especially Dora Maar. But I recently passed in front of my neighbourhood bookstore and I saw a new book about Picasso that I had not seen before and I immediately bought it and to my surprise and anger, it was all about how much of an abuser he was and that he committed «gender violence*» towards most of the women in his life.

Being as such rubbish I could not support, I thought about giving the book away but then a better thought occurred to me. Since so many of these same puritanical, leftist, «politically correct» folk like to ban books, I decided to trash the book so that no one would get infected with its virus of hatred for men that has become so popular in these elitist circles that unfortunately now exist all around the world.

I don’t know, but I can imagine that these people writing these books, and articles too, know nothing, or very little, about human psychology, sociology, history or art. They cannot understand that people from times gone past thought of things differently than some do nowadays. That is not to excuse real abuse or much less real «domestic violence**» but just to place it in its proper context.

Pablo Picasso is one of the most important artists in art history and his work is worth millions upon millions. I sincerely doubt that anyone would be willing to trash it or to take it down from museums all around the world. So these elitist, leftist «correctors» can continue to accuse anyone that does not conform to their «superior» lifestyle but they can leave art and artists, of the past (especially) or present, alone. Just because we don’t agree with you does not mean we are inferior in any way.

#art, Sombrero dorado – Gold Hat (algo nuevo/something new)

(A veces me siento como un gato junto al mar/Derechos Reservados – Sometimes I feel like a cat next to the seashore/All Rights Reserved)

The cat is not the real Francisco/Bodo but an actor portraying him… Here is the painting I just finished titled «The Golden Hat» ready for the exhibition «Atrévete» («Be Bold») which will open its doors on October 12, 2023, in my home town: (Sala d’Exposicions de Ciutat Vella, Carrer del Micalet, 1, València)…
