Esta canción tiene tela pues la Armada de Estados Unidos quería usarla para hacer propaganda y reclutar hasta que se dieron cuenta que Village People eran un grupo de mariquitas (no el cantante) y se echaron para atrás. Jejeje, que sanacos estos marineros… Pero la canción no tiene desperdicio, es una autentica joya de la época que nos dio la mejor música popular del Siglo XX (y del Siglo XXI hasta ahora)…

This song was going to be used by the US Navy as a recruitment tool until they discovered that the group was composed of a bunch of gay guys (not the singer) and they dropped it like a hot potato! Hehehe, how ridiculous these sailing boys! But the song is a jewel of the decade when the best music of the XX Century was made and of the XXIst Century as well…

Probablemente la primera que marcó la década y el techno-pop de los 1980… Claro la canción es mas antigua, pero Soft Cell la convirtió en un himno de la generación de los 80… «Tainted Love» was composed by Ed Cobb, (US born composer) formerly of the Four Preps, (a US group) and the song was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964, who became known in the UK as the «Queen of Northern Soul.»

Me acuerdo que aquí en España había fiebre de Simply Red y bueno, todos caímos por temas como este que vais a escuchar… La canción «If You Don’t Know Me By Now» fue escrita por Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff (los creadores del sonido de Filadelfia) en 1972 para Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, y cuando ellos la lanzaron fue un gran éxito, pero para nosotros cuando la lanzó Simply Red en 1989 fue la ostia…

I remember that here in Spain there was Simply Red fever! And, well, we all fell for songs like this you’re going to listen to… The song «If You Don’t Know Me By Now» was written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff (the creators of the Philadelphia sound) in 1972 for Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, and when they released it, it was a great success. But for us, when Simply Red released it in 1989, it was amazing…

Esta gente eran la ostia… Y esta canción, collons, como no te va a gustar si está basada en Caperucita Roja…

This is from 1982 and one of my favourites from that decade and the next, Duran Duran… «Hungry Like the Wolf» was a huge success. The video, which is amazing, was shot in Sri Lanka! Wow! These guys were awesome… And this song, wow, how can you not like it when it’s based on Little Red Riding Hood…

This song was one of my favourites back in 1981 and 1982. It was Human League, from the UK, and the video is too cool. (I would say one of the things I like the most about watching movies and videos from those years is that nobody pulls out a mobile phone from their pocket and starts texting, bloody hell!).

Well, as the ones who read my blog know, I have dedicated many posts to bringing forth women artists and that means women musicians as well, especially great and famous ones that perhaps might not have reached your eyes and ears. Today I, a lover of Jazz, feature the great female drummer Viola Smith!

This great woman of the world of percussion (mostly dominated by male drummers) and of Jazz, who lived to the age of 107 years! She was born in the US, in the state of Wisconsin in 1912 and died in 2020! She studied piano as a child along with her nine siblings, seven of which were female. Her father created an all female band and Viola chose the drums. The band played in a dance hall owned by her family in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin…

You have to hear her, there isn’t enough I can say, and the all female band as well! Phenomenal!

No hay que recordarle a nadie que estamos viviendo tiempos de guerras. Sigue la agresión rusa contra Ucrania y también tenemos la guerra que ha tenido que hacer Israel contra sus enemigos. Y que no se me confunda la marchantería que la guerra en Gaza vino a cabo del ataque terrorista de Hamas contra inocentes en Israel. Fue una acción ilegal (convirtiéndola en una acción de guerra) para matar y causar daños porque la intención de Hamas es acabar con Israel. Ahora están todos acusando a Israel del ataque a la ONG, pero os digo que no se puede culpar a nadie mas que a los que comenzaron esta guerra, porque esas cosas pasan en las guerras. A veces un peloton ataca a otro, pensando que es el enemigo y resultan ser sus camaradas. Esto lo saben todos los analistas politicos que ahora actúan como si fuera algo extraño que jamás había sucedido y hay que echarle la culpa, por supuesto a Israel. Hasta el presidente del gobierno español ha dicho que le exige a Israel el cese al fuego y que el reconoce el estado palestino. Y yo me pregunto, ¿A quien le importa lo que dices tu, señor Sanchez?

I don’t have to remind anyone that we are living in times of war. Russia continues her aggression against Ukraine and we also have Israel at war against her enemies. And don’t get confused because the war in Gaza is the direct result of a cruel and criminal attack upon the citizens and guests of the state of Israel by a terrorist group, Hamas. It was an illegal action that quickly became an act of war and done to kill and hurt Israel because their intention is to wipe out the Jewish state. And, as it turns out, there are many that are blaming Israel for the bombing of the NGO but, in effect, there is really no one to blame. These things happen in war, it is called «friendly fire» and one has to assume the damage done because it was not intentional. All the news analysts and world leaders know this but now they are acting like this was an act of aggression by Israel, as if they did not know about friendly fire incidents. Of course, they are not so quick to judge, attack and acuse those on the other side. It turns out that the only ones the news media blame for atrocities are governments (and people) on the right wing and never those on the left. But history has proven that those on the left have caused far more damage to humanity.

Grises cuando nacen y son criadas y blancas ya de adultas con ciertas manchas negras en las alas y la cabeza… Son aves oportunistas, omnívoras y hasta ladronas… Adornan las costas con sus vuelo encantador y también con su no muy encantador ladrido… Algunas de sus 56 especies llegan a vivir hasta 49 años… Como siempre he vivido junto al mar las gaviotas para mi han sido fuente de inspiración y también de entretenimiento viéndolas volar y luego zambullirse en el mar en búsqueda de un pez… En Cadiz me encontré con dos que me hicieron el cuento de la buena Pipa, aquí están…

La dios Nut es la diosa del cielo… Hija del dios Shu y de la diosa Tefnut madre también de los dioses Osiris, Isis, Seth, Neftis y Horus el viejo y en algunos lugares de Egipto se le consideraba madre también del dios Ra, dios del sol. Ra viaja todos los días por el cuerpo de Nut hasta desaparecer dentro de su boca que lo llevaba al inframundo.

La razón de ser de esta diosa y la cosmología egipcia en términos generales, me fascina y me ha dado mucha tela para pinturas y dibujos.
