The past, the preterite, what has been lived, what has already happened…
For many the past is a way to make the present more liveable. I recall an old friend telling me that the older he got the better he was…
However, art is not like that. Many people think that the history of painting, i.e. art history, demonstrates its evolution, but I’m going to tell you that no, art has not evolved. From the moment one of our ancestors entered a cave and started drawing cave paintings on the walls, what he had painted had already reached its maximum development and still has it…

¿Me sugieres un titulo para esta obra?

Can you suggest a title for this work?

The first question one should ask of one’s self is,
«Am I an artist?»
And one must reply,
«I think so, well, what I mean is that I want to, yes, yes, I am an artist.»
So what you have to do is create. If you are an artist/painter then paint, paint, and paint more and more. Paint when you wake up, all day, and before going to bed, and the next day repeat the same. You will become an artist. And don’t think that’s the end of it, not at all, because the artist has to revindicate himself with each work, it’s not an honorary title in perpetuity.
So go to work!

So for the title of this post to work, (I’m not having you on), I have to introduce you to the work of Andy Warhol… Check it out and tell me what you think…
CHEERS

No cambian. Quizá el artista si evolucione, crezca y cambie, pero el arte es inmutable…

Sometimes the past is the space one uses to embellish the present or to heal wounds, or to believe that from the mistakes made in it, one has learned, and now one has great experience. Yes, it is true that the past serves for all these things and for many more, I imagine…
But the past, although it can be adorned however one wants, is implacable. I have been developing my art since a very distant past…
But art does not evolve. What works have done in the past are complete works of art, full of emotions, feelings, history, and messages. They do not change. Perhaps the artist evolves, grows, and changes, but art is immutable…

«‘They’ say that the ‘worst virus to threaten humanity’ has been discovered: THE VIRUS THAT CAUSES STUPIDITY!»
«By whom?»
«Researchers in the University of Nebraska. See for yourself: (https://abcnews.go.com/Health/stupidity-virus-discovered-scientists/story?id=26834631).»
«But ever since I was a wee lad I’ve known the world was full of stupid people. I reckon now it’s worse than ever.»
All you have to do is take a walk and they’ll bump right into you. I was walking down one of our busy avenues in town and in just a few short blocks I literally came face to face with them. Five people, they were heading in the opposite direction and they were about to walk bang straight into me. Why? Because they were paying more attention to their mobile phone than to what was going on around them. Is this stupid or what?
Hey! No matter how much you think you know the way or the neighbourhood, you’re still on the bloody street and that is the unknown. Don’t you know that life is in constant flux? No? I guess you’re too stupid! You need your eyes and ears if not you’re walking like the deaf and blind…
«Are smart phones making people dumber? Can the mobile phone be a vector for the stupid virus?»
«Of course!»
Look, I know sometimes one has no choice and one has to consult the mobile even out on the street. But I am not referring to those instances. I am talking about all those you see who are searching the web, texting or doing some other stupid thing on and with their mobile outside their homes. Oh my God, they are contaminated with the virus!
«But it’s not just their relationship with their mobile phone. Stupid is everywhere and if you don’t believe me just take a look around, tell me what you see.»
«I see the results of apathy.»
«Right. Look at the walls around town. Everywhere they are covered up with scribblings, signs, «graffiti», the non-artistic kind, and other forms of gang tagging. Everything looks horrible and no one gives a bloody god damn! This makes me think that apathetic people are truly and well contaminated with the virus.»
Another thing. When I see the High School kids come out for lunch and take over the sidewalks, climb on the benches, block the paths acting rude and uneducated, I realise they are contaminated with the virus. And now it’s not bad enough that they want to smoke tabaco, they’ve invented vaping to really screw them over.
Furthermore, when Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and the rest of social media tells me that I cannot upload a picture, a video, or anything else because they think that a naked body, a tit, even if it is part of a classical work of art, is porn, basically I flip!
«Are we living in a world controlled by algorithm’s that are ‘teaching’ us how to think and act?»
«That’s right mate, they think we’re stupid. And if stupidity is a virus, it is a bad one, one that never leaves the host. After all Artificial Intelligence, AI, has surpassed our own and now rules over us because our entire lives are now tied to and within our mobile, our portable and our home computers. We’re in the matrix no matter how much we deny it.
«How? I just don’t understand…
«I’ll tell you.»
If Instagram, YouTube, Facebook or whatever, rejects something or says that something is a conspiracy theory, or a lie that you cannot stand to even hear about, they censor it and you’ll never see it anymore on their platforms. And they want you to start adapting the same criteria. They want to condition you to think that if it (something) is not good for the aforementioned social media sites, then it is not worthy to even be thought of, much less to be spoken of. There are already many, many people who think this way.
The internet has shrunk. YouTube videos are now mostly streamlined and well produced videos, many from companies. You cannot find the contents that were there just a few short years ago, especially if they dealt with 9-11, chemtrails, UFO’s, government’s shady acts, or anything else they considered a «conspiracy theory» et cetera…
«Haven’t you heard people say that something is or isn’t politically correct? Well that’s one of the symptoms of the ‘virus’.»
«Yep. I guess you have to be pretty well infested with the ‘virus’ to accept living according to an algorithm or to what is, supposedly, ‘politically correct’.»
«Absolutely mate, and we all thought COVID-19 was terrible…«
I hope you all get vaccinated. I hear the ‘virus’ is spreading fast…
