#art, You Want to Paint? Think About This…

(«Caras del 98» Francisco Bravo Cabrera/All Rights Reserved)

How do you make/create a painting? How do I start, how do I continue, how do I finish? What should I take into account? How do I plan the painting?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions, I will tell you…

A painting is created with the experience acquired over the years, channelled through professional and technical learning, taste (the good taste of the painter), and the message you want to convey… Or simply by buying a canvas, paints, and brushes. That depends on you. Yes, you will need those things, but whether something good comes out of it, spontaneously or intuitively, or not, will be a certain unknown.

How do I start, etcetera? You start by envisioning. I imagine every artistic creator begins with the artwork in their head in one way or another. Then you have to pick up a pencil or crayon and start to develop the ideas on paper (or whatever surface you like) to make at least one sketch. From there, you decide on certain things: What size do I want the painting to be, what color palette will I use, and what style will I use to convey the message of this painting. These are all preliminary steps, and things you have to be very clear about while you’re painting.

And as for how to plan, well, that is done on the go. You will notice that as you are painting the composition (and there are rules about composition which we will not get into here) will start to take shape and it will, most assuredly, demand things from you. Listen carefully to what the painting is telling you because there will come a time when it will say STOP! And if you add one more brushstroke, you mess it up…

#art, El arte en los años mozos – Art: The Early Years

(El verdadero Bodo Vespaciano/Francisco Bravo Cabrera – The real Bodo Vespaciano/Francisco Bravo Cabrera)

I have already shown you how the first years were, especially 2003, which was one of the most important, so now it’s time to go a little further back, to the early 2000’s and even the1990s. These are from our first Omnia Caelum Miami gallery in the city of Miami, Florida (US).

I am sorry about the bad quality of the pictures but it seems that in those years I did not have a good camera…

#art, «Pero pera» recién sacadito del forno caldo en Valencia – «Pero Pera» Brand New, Just Out of the Oven in Valencia…

(«Pero pera» de/by Francisco Bravo Cabrera/Derechos Reservados/All Rights Reserved)

«Pero Pera» («But a Pear»), has become my favourite work, well but always the last one I paint is… This painting measures 70 x 140 centimetres and I have painted it with acrylic colours on canvas. The style (if styles need to be mentioned) is surreal but at the same time expressionist since I don’t paint what I see (or what I have seen) but what I feel. Also what I sense, or what I believe those figures are expressing. As usual, this painting is figurative but if you look closely you will see a lot of abstraction in the negative spaces, let’s say, the spaces between the figures of the composition. This, like all my works, is already for sale. For more information, please contact my representative, «By Guloshka» (Guloshka404@gmail.com or IG: @Guloshka).
