Yes, the trumpet announces a new section of our art blog/magazine VALENCIARTIST. We’re going to introduce you to the poets, writers, and artists we’ve met through our years on WordPress. We start on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 0600 hours (Western Europe time zone).
If you want to join this group, we will conduct a brief interview with you and publish a sample of your work, as well as provide the name and link to your blog. Send us your email and we will reply with the complete information.
We will start the series with the writers (and poets) and later every one else…
Welcome to the POETS & WRITERSSeries on VALENCIARTIST. Here our protagonists tell their story in their own way and with their own words. We will not be translating as that would call for interpretation and we prefer that their words remain as they have written them.
You can be part of this series if you are a writer, a poet, artist or engaged in the arts in any other manner. Just reply to this post with your email address and we will send you the information and schedule you for participation.

Dawn is a published author and a phenomenal poet from Arizona. Here is a sample of her poetry
BAUDELAIRE
when i saw you there
lying on the cold stone slab
your virgin beauty pure as white marble
i remembered why i loved you
and all the promises we made
you no longer see me
except in dreams far away
you no longer hear me
except when celestial angels
open your ear with a golden horn
but i can touch you
and suckle the cold white breast
as empty as your heart
and kiss the waxen lips
devoid of blood
your infinite beauty
is so much more
than your finite body
could ever bear
in this suffering world
someday my soul
will follow you into the ether
and find you smiling
like a gleeful child
in the arms of god
DAWN’S BIO
Dawn Pisturino is a retired registered nurse in Arizona, USA whose international publishing credits include poems, short stories, and articles. Her first poetry book, Ariel’s Song: PublishedPoems, 1987 – 2023, debuted with five-star reviews.
DAWN’S INTERVIEW
1) Who are your major literary/artistic references?
Depending on what I’m writing, my major influences have been H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, the Bronte sisters, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Thomas Hardy, and the great Russian writers.
2) What makes you a writer? What do you like to write about? What is your plan for the next five years?
My ability to tap into and articulate deep emotions makes me a writer. I like writing various things, from dark humor to horror and off-beat thrillers. I’ve had numerous poems, short stories, and articles published. My goal is to publish a novel. I already have several started. I tend to drift toward the dark side, so you will probably never see me write a mushy romance novel, although that’s subject to change.
3) Do you write about your life, your feelings/emotions, yourself?
I write about whatever strikes me at the time and according to my mood. Sometimes, I hear somebody say something that triggers a thought that I turn into a poem or short story. Writing short stuff is easier for me because of that process. Maintaining a consistent mood with longer pieces is hard, and I get bored quickly. I write a lot about interpersonal relationships because they interest me, and my background as a psychiatric nurse gave me plenty of opportunities to interact with all kinds of people.

I’ve often said such things like «life is a cabaret» (naturally I got it from the song) and «art is the search» and other such things that some people may think as nonsense, but I do not mind nonsense, actually I sort of steer in that direction. After all if life is a carnaval and art is the search, why not search for a cabaret? Here are some of the latest figments of my imagination:

Greetings to all of you, fellow poets, writers, artists, thinkers, and so on and so forth. Today we debut and welcome an incredibly interesting series here on VALENCIARTIST!
Day after day, you will enjoy the art of some of my favourite writers, poets, and artists from the networks and life outside of them as well. Without censorship or changes, we will publish, in their own words, what they feel, why they write, and how they guide and focus their art and career. You will also read/see samples of their literary or artistic work and get to know them better. It is important to highlight those who delve into and seek to advance culture, knowing and recognizing that culture is universal and knows no boundaries.
We already have a list of interested poets and writers who are going to participate. But if you, yes, you reading this, also want to participate, come on, do it because it’s very simple. Reply to this post and leave us your email address. In a few days, we will send you an email with all the information so you too can participate.
Thank you! I hope to read your comments and replies and more than anything I hope you’ll enjoy the series.

The rhythm is a heartbeat…
so starts the swing, so starts the movement, energy connected to the body, body connected to the eternal flow, flowing to be loved, to be touched, to be forever remembered…
Soul in soul, breath in breath, pounding and pounding, energy waves,
catalysing teardrops laced with grins and smiles and laughter, roller coaster going full speed down, the thrill is what I’m after…
movement to movement, whisper to whisper, cry to cry,
caressing the wind that caresses the skin and the warm trail of tears confuse themselves with the moisture of a kiss…

WHAT IS THE EURO-KU?
Simply put, it is a Haiku written by a European who loves Japanese poetry so he created something that would honour the style but that could be written by non-Japanese people with the same spirit.
