Una de las grandes mujeres artistas del impresionismo francés. Eva, de ascendencia española nació en París en 1849. Claro, por ser mujer, se le recordaba por ser modelo de muchos artistas parisinos, en particular de Manet. Pero ahora la podemos reivindicar y darle la posición que se merece, y esa es entre los grandes impresionistas.

Las cuatro mas famosas mujeres impresionistas son Morisot, Cassatt, Bracquemond, and Gonzalès.

She is one of the great impressionist artist of France. Eva, of Spanish background, was born in Paris in 1849. Naturally, since she was a woman, she was first remembered as an artists model, especially the model for Manet. But now we can revendicate her and give her the position she deserves among the great impressionists.

Well I reckon it is the time of the year to look back and ponder upon past days and past actions and as well think about what the new year will bring. Well, what the year 2025 will bring, nobody knows, but what one can hope to accomplish in that same year, well, that is kind of up to us. I just hope to accomplish my work and to see as much of the world (at least those parts I am interested in) as I can.

But…

There are a few things that I would love to see eliminated from society, from the tele and from everyday life. One is this left wing – versus – right wing attitude and mentality we have developed. Or has it been subliminally imposed upon us? People are not so easy to pigeonhole. One may have both liberal and conservative views depending on the subject. And besides, that paradigm is rather old fashioned. We are still repeating the same old political clichés from the fifties and sixties (XXth Century). Time that we left that behind.

Another thing is this «gender violence» bullshit. Violence, be it against women, men, children or animals, is simply that, «violence». Genders do not have traits such as proclivity towards violence, but people do. Violence among family members, regardless of who is the perpetrator and who is the victim is known, correctly, as «domestic violence», and that is what they should be calling it.

And the third is the now use of the pronoun «they». Good grief! They is plural! It is not a personal pronoun except for groups of more than one person. And asking people which pronoun they prefer to be called! What! Are we living in a «progressive» future/present or in the land of the idiots? I am so sorry, and I would never discriminate against anyone, but there are only two genders, male and female. Women have babies, both male and female and nothing can change that. And apologising for a normal belief is not something I do, so I hope no one is offended and I am not striking against those people who consider themselves «trans», I am just sticking up for what is normal.

And having said all that, I am wishing you all a very safe, healthy and enjoyable holiday season! Happy Christmas Eve and Happy Christmas. And I say that because people in different countries have different traditions. In my country the big, big celebration is on Christmas Eve. That is when we eat, drink and be merry. In other countries here in Europe and the rest of the world, they celebrate on Christmas Day, being December 25. Others do not celebrate at all and that is honky dory, to each his own.

Voy a enumerar algunas cosillas que me gustarían ver/experimentar el próximo año. Venga, que no son muchas. Yo vivo agradecido y complacido, así que no pido mucho. Pero bueno…

Me gustaría que se deje esa tontería de decir españoles y españolas. El pueblo español esta compuesto de españoles, es decir de mujeres y hombres. El plural siempre es masculino en castellano. No querréis buscarle la quinta pata al gato ni tapar el sol con un dedo. No es necesario separar los géneros. Hay palabras femeninas y masculinas y así hemos hablado y así hemos escrito toda la vida. Me parece una fanfarronería echar al traste la historia y cambiarlo todo por gusto…

Me gustaría que dejen de decir «violencia machista» y también esa otra gilipollez, «violencia de género». La violencia no tiene ni genero ni dueño, es y lastimamente hombres y mujeres suelen ser violentos y cometen, ambos, crímenes contra unos y otros. La violencia no es patrimonio de ningún género humano asi que mejor decir «violencia domestica» si hay que decir algo.

Tambien me gustaría que los ateos dejen de referirse a Dios, a Jesus, o a otros que representan los credos y las religiones de la gente. Hay muchas otras cosas de que hablar, y además, si no crees y no participas, para que molestarte en investigar algo que no te interesa. Déjalo y dedicate a lo que te place…

Además de esto quisiera paz en la tierra y que queramos a los demás como nos queremos a nosotros mismos…

Tina Modotti fue fotógrafa, artista y revolucionaria… Nació en 1896 en Udine, Italia. Fue también modelo, actriz y activista del Comintern. Vivió en San Francisco, EEUU y luego, en 1922, se trasladó a México donde militó en el Partido Comunista Mexicano. Parece que en esa época era popular unirse a causas fallidas, como ahora lo es también, pero bueno, para gusto los colores. La presento aquí porque presento a todas que han aportado algo a la historia del arte…

He elegido los cuadros de la ultima etapa pictórica de la gran artista norteamericana Dorothea Tanning para ejemplificar lo que es y hasta donde llega la figuración en el arte plástico. Como ya os he dicho, solo hay dos tipos de arte, el arte figurativo y el arte abstracto y no confundáis esto con los estilos y los movimientos artísticos, pues no son la misma cosa. Acordaos que todo lo que no sea figuración es abstracción en el arte visual. La abstracción no puede contener ningún rasgo de figuración, ni elemento alguno que se asemeje, aunque sea remotamente, a las cosas de la vida, o sea a la naturaleza. La figuración viene de muchas maneras. En estos cuadros que os he elegido como ejemplares, veréis las figuras distorsionadas, y los colores que surgen casi de la nada, pero por muy abstractos que parezcan, los cuadros siguen siendo, por ley y por convenio, arte figurativo.

I have chosen the paintings from the last pictorial stage of the great North American artist Dorothea Tanning to exemplify what figurative art is and to what extent it reaches. As I have already mentioned, there are only two types of art: figurative art and abstract art. And do not confuse this with artistic styles and movements, as they are not the same thing. Remember that everything that is not figurative is abstract in visual art. Abstract art cannot contain any traits of figuration or any elements that resemble, even remotely, the things of life, meaning «things» found in nature. Figuration comes in many ways. In these paintings I have selected as examples, you will see distorted figures and colours that emerge almost from nothing. But no matter how abstract they may seem, the paintings remain, by law and by convention, figurative art.
