(What is in a question? A search for knowledge? Or just a waste of time? Somethings are worth asking about, other things are better if ignored, but what about art? Is the question ‘what is art?’ a valid question? Would you ask such a question? And if you would, would you be ready and willing to provide a reply? Let me know)
Lovely music and questions with suggested answers that to me will remain forever unanswered. Some «art» I enjoy, some not so very much. Art, I guess, above all else, is personal to both the artists and the audience.
parents still… Si. Parents. «Enlightened» adults who have spawned children seek to be their progeny’s «friends,» and wouldn’t dream of such correction.

This a cracking post F. You’ve managed to combine your thoughts, your art, and ask a question at the same time. I haven’t got the answer, but at least you’ve got me thinking as to why you’ve asked the question.
Thank you Malc, that is true. Is the question even a valid one? Most people would say that art is whatever they think or wish it was, or what they like in painting, sculpture, music, et al. That is why I also ponder if it is philosophically important or even if it is needed at all…but like I have often said, for me art is the search, so searching for answers qualifies. All the best to you my friend.
An interesting question, Francisco. The word «art» may be so overused now that a true definition is near impossible. It, much like the word «love», has become whatever each individual thinks it is. And so there are many answers to your question, each being right for one person. Great post!
True my friend. I also wonder if it is even worth asking, for as you have said, the word «art» is overused and everybody has their own definition. It is a word that has lost its meaning, that is why I say that artists should now just be content with calling themselves «artisans» as what they do is just reproduce, there is nothing original under the sun, nothing new…
I myself like reading about art, what it is, and isn’t, but am finding shifting definitions generation to generation (currently reading essays mostly from across the last 75 years or so, late 40s etc on). Even read one account explaining how, once large $ accounts got hold of the market, they defined art, and not always to the benefit nor respect for the general public, lol! I do think «art» in general, as noted by other folks above, has become quite eclectic, which I like. And we are free-er than most times past, to not only do most any kind of art we like, but change and adapt it as we feel to, something evidently many of the longer living artists, from like the impressionists on, did. I’d say, for me, I’m currently enjoying exploring internally generated colors and shapes, which – so far – keep containing hints or outright shouts of figures, landscapes, and who knows what else 😊 And, thank God, when I «do» my art, all that flies out the window & I end up studying & wondering what I came up with! So, I’d say, «some» sort of interactive back & forth of our internal and external words, is not only unavoidable, but on some level, what all our activities are about, especially the arts! Wonderful questions & post, Francis!
Thank you Felipe. I have always read your posts and I must say I quite admire your process. The fact that you investigate, research, try new things, experiment, lets me know you engage in the “search” and that, to me is “doing” art. I am confident now that art is as much a visual as an intellectual/philosophical pursuit and it surges from the will of the artist as a result of his talent, and talent surges from hard work, meaning practice. Art is thought out, researched, planned and contrived. Art is not spontaneous nor intuitive. Thank you Felipe,
All the best,
Francesc
I love watching your videos Francis – art is so many things to each individual artist. I believe that you are right however and it develops over time and gets better with observation and hard work. I especially loved this music, very interesting and great photographical art with the shot of you in the beginning. Lovely, thank you so much, what a pleasure. All the best my friends, Joni
Thank you so very much Joni! Art is a human activity, it can be good or bad but it’s something God gave, a gift, to humanity, it cannot be done by animals or machines, and to do good art it takes talent and talent is the result of hard work. Our love, peace and happiness! 😊🌹🙏🏻♥️🤗

Yeah I put it there so that parents can use it to scare the children if they misbehave (parents still do that, no?) cheers Espie.
