Dear Diary, Page 888, What About History Months?

Logic… What is logic? Well some may say it is «correct reasoning» while others may say that it is that «science» of deductively valid inferences, whatever that is… And if you mention «science» in the definition, then you might encounter a logical problem, which is the question, «what is science?» I don’t know what it is and I will not attempt to respond to the question. What I have to say is different and not found in that rabbit hole.

I don’t really value logic that much, or at all. It is a thought process created by those who would attempt to control humanity with a series of laws and norms that don’t really mean anything. There are many things that are done in the world that have nothing to do with correct reasoning or with deductions of valid inferences. One thing is that the US state of Hawaii (a series of islands) has an interstate highway. Is that logical? What state does it lead to?

Another thing is that in the US the month of February is called «Black History Month» but there is no «White History Month» or no «Spanish History Month», no «Chinese History Month», no «Irish History Month», no «Jewish History Month» and so on and so forth. Is that logical? I mean Black Americans have a very proud and long history, but so so White ones, or Irish ones or Italian ones or Spanish ones. Why has the government not celebrated their history and given them a month? It is illogical…

We do celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the US from 15 September to 15 October. One could ask what is a Hispanic? We also celebrate Asian-American Pacific Islander month in May and Women’s History Month in March. One could argue that this is tokenism. Do other countries go through the motions of being inclusive?

I think that is celebrated 24/7/52 for millenia, if you were to ask any who was not part of that demographics, which I am.

I agree with the comment that you are a brilliant artist because you view logic uniquely.

      2. Thank you Pat. I don’t think I am that brilliant at all, just a guy that likes to ask questions to learn more and more about my favourite subject, people. And it is getting close to 7pm (Spanish time) and that means «Wine Time!!!» Cheers Pat and all the best! (I think it might be better to forget all celebrations. We are all people, no matter where we are from or what our «race» is (we are all members of one, the Human Race), so we should just celebrate things together. All the best.

    2. Oh yes, the real definition of Hispanic, the way we use it in Europe is to define a person born in the Iberian peninsula. All Spaniards are Hispanic but people born in the countries of America are not, though some may be by direct family descendants. Cheers Pat 😊

Thanks for the clarification, Francisco. I heard one professor from South America say that the Library of Congress should change Hispanic American to Iberian America.

      2. I am an Iberian and so are all Spaniards. It must be considered that people from South America are not all Spanish origin. Many are Indians from their lands, and many more are descendent from peoples of many other countries. Just because they speak Spanish does not make them Hispanic or Iberian. They should not be lumped into a single category as there are Black, White, Mixed, Indian and Asian people in all those countries and they are all nationals of those countries. The insistence of the US to categorise people is rather akin to someone suffering from severe OCD.

I cannot argue the logic behind your logic, my friend! You raise some interesting questions.

    1. Thank you my friend. Asking questions sometimes brings answers your way, sometimes not… And logic, well I am not too crazy about it. It is a human contrived way of controlling people, you just don’t see logic in nature, you see magic…
