There are arguments in favour of AI generated “art,” incredible as it may seem. But then again, there have been arguments in favour of all manner of absurdity. However, no one can argue against reality, no matter how tight they shut their eyes.
Art can only be created by a Human Being. I will shout it to the winds: ART CAN ONLY BE MADE BY HUMANS!
Granted that computers may be quite capable of helping us in many ways but that does not make them capable of creating art. Art is developed, exclusively in humans, through hard work which develops talent and talent, combined with the artists’ taste, imagination, creativity and will, form a work of art. It may be good or bad art, but it is a human, exclusively a human creation.
Artificial Intelligence, AI, is theft. These programmes steal from images uploaded to the internet by artists from all over the world. That is how these programmes come up with the images that they do. That is not art. Neither is an artist someone who types out a description so that AI can generate an image. That is fraud and any designer or artist pushing images created by AI as original art defrauds his client. It is time to put a stop to this.
I am not against technology. But I do think there should be a limit, a moral limit, a legal limit, a professional limit.

I have seen animal produced art which is sometimes done in zoos or aquariums as part of their stimulus programs. Not really art either but fun nonetheless. I have a very rudimentary painting by a seal.

For me it’s okay when technology help the humans in their jobs, but it’s not okay when technology take place of the humans. Art is something more deep than just do beautiful drawings, it’s something creative and unique and the fact that now people loves technology that can replace the human being it’s nit something positive. It could even be the death of creativity.

Ai generated pieces are like something familiar but empty inside. It’s an imposter. It is deceitful and a lie and a fake in the end. I pray that we hold the truth close and exercise discernment.

We’ve stated the case against AI extraordinarily well in this post, Francis. I whole-heartedly agree with you. AI is theft. AI is fake. AI is deceiving. Even as a new and obscure writer, I have begun receiving emails encouraging me to pay for services that can do my writing for me. It seems there will be no end of all forms of art and human expression being under attack by ignorant people and now by technology wizards.

Incluso la IA depende de los seres humanos porque se halla diseñada por personas y su función es servir de «ayuda para», así que el arte producido por las máquinas no es sino una amalgama fotocopiada de la capacidad creativa humana. Una máquina no produce arte aunque pueda reproducir el trabajo de un artista. Ignoro si algún día, las máquinas dominarán la tierra y sustituirán a los seres humanos, pero, de momento, e incluso pese a la dependencia humana de la tecnología, las neuronas y la sensibilidad humana siguen siendo las que generan creaciones admirables.

Art is all about translating something that you feel internally into something that exists externally and no machine can do that. If someone with the help of AI image generation can create what on the surface looks like top-notch artwork using just a few text prompts, but in reality he’s skills don’t go beyond drawing stick figures, this can quickly escalate and impact everything from film to graphic novels and more. How people don’t see this is beyond me, Francisco xx

Yes, you are right, and if a designed used one of those images not only is he defrauding his client but he is committing theft as the image is formed by stealing from art work (done by humans) that has been uploaded to the internet. Thank you so much Aiva. All the best!

AI is really a business tool that is supposed to make businesses run more efficiently, cost-effectively, and at a faster pace. The pressure placed on digital creators is enormous, I imagine, if they can’t work fast enough to please their masters. People are scared about being replaced by AI, and they should be. Tech companies have known all along that humans would be displaced by robots. This was talked about under Obama.

They are certainly displacing humans and more will be. But although AI might be a useful tool for other things, it should be kept out of others, like art.
