Famosa por ser la mujer de Rodin y la hermana del poeta Paul Claudel y se le considera una artista de menor cuantía que tuvo que ser internada en 1913 porque sufría de paranoia y esquizofrenia. Pero esa fama no se la merece. Se la han dado porque claro, siendo mujer, les era fácil echarla a un lado y no incluirla en la historia del arte en el lugar que se merece. Yo digo que fue una gran artista. Desde que conoció a Rodin, y el la convirtió en su musa y amante, ella era la que le esculpía las manos a sus esculturas. Camille debe ser famosa por su obra no por el estatus que le dieron los hombres mas importantes de su vida. Por eso la he incluido en la serie. Nació en Francia (Villeneuve-sur-Fère) en 1864 y la pasión que desarrollo desde muy joven por la escultura llevó a su padre a trasladar la familia a París para que Camille estudiara en la Académie Colarossi. Camille Claudel murió el 19 de octubre de 1943. Vivio 30 años en el asilo de Montfavet y en Montfavet fue enterrada.

Famous for being the wife of Rodin and the sister of the poet Paul Claudel as well as for being a lesser ranked artist who suffered from paranoia and schizophrenia and which had to be interned in 1913. But she does not deserve such a reputation. I say she was a great artist, but being a woman it was easy to push her aside. Since the day she met Rodin and became his muse and lover, she actually sculpted the hands of his sculptures. Camille should be famous for her work and not for the status bestowed upon her by her husband and brother, i.e. the men in her life. For that reason I have included her in this series. She was born in France, (Villeneuve-sur-Fère), in 1864. Her passion for sculpture manifested itself at a young age and her father saw it and moved the family to Paris so she could study at the Académie Colarossi, where she met Rodin. Camille Claudel died on the 19th of October 1943. She lived for 30 years at the assylum of Montfavet and in Montfavet she is buried.

Jamais Camille Claudel n’a été l’épouse de Rodin. Ce qui l’aurait peut-être tenu à l’écart de la folie. Devenue sa maîtresse l’amour passionnel qu’elle avait pour lui la détruit. Elle fut en revanche récompensée d’avoir été son élève ce qui l’a conduite à la plus grande reconnaissance par
